Review

Dapayk´s first solo release in ages kicks of dramatically with “tyffaniecell” a pushing, square-sound bummer reminiscent to the early 90s without being retro. acid patterns flow through the track just to be interrupted by a warm pad that frees the track from it’s tightness and opens a wider atmosphere. Sutekh, of the american label Context, took the main parts of the original track and turned it into a stomping techno track. The b-side comes with rare grooves somewhere between 4 to the floor, breakbeat and weird electronica. The track called “honigmond” works with dozens of short samples that create a somehow jazzy but also electro sound. The rhythm gets lost and gets back in the right moment to drive an open minded crowd grazy. The last piece “lostintrack” brings all the power to the pointation of the four beats per measure. With the help of female vocal samples, cut in almost every single bit, the track transports a kind of silence that’s lying in the gaps of the beats. With the use of a sweet pattern sound “lostintrack” developes a smooth middlepart and explodes at the end in full “orchestration". In the end there is a bonustrack for “daypack", that can be downloaded at www.mosferry.de - called “das kratzfest". The mosferry sound was never that dry and tight before. The basskick experiments with the rhythm feeling of the listener but creates a rocking “retro-avantgarde” piece of music. sick and cool…
