REPRESS IN COLOURED VINYL!!!Following two releases by more established artists, Liebe*Detail dedicates itself to complete newcomers again. Coming from the small town of Lüneburg, Matthias Meyer is in his early 20s and proves that you don’t need to have spent a decade or longer on the dj- and producer-circuit in order to make tracks that cut dancefloors to the quick. “Reichenbach” is a concisely crafted peaktime track. Its metallic, urgent drive builds up a lot of tension leading up to an inevitable, massive climax. This definitely is excessive maximal techno. Its sheer precision and power will leave dancefloors breathless. In direct comparison, young producer Andre Gansebohm alias Ndru’s track is more relaxed. With a duration of more than 11 minutes, it is not only the longest track ever released by Liebe*Detail so far, but it is also the one with the strongest narrative concept beyond the usual tales of the dancefloor. Ndru developes the story of a pony named Clipclop working as a cashier in a supermarket. Most of the track’s sounds consist of field recordings, Ndru actually collected in supermarkets. In the course of “A Pony…” rhythms, tonal colours and atmospheres are constantly shifting, their patterns and intensities are constantly changing. Thus, a real narrative flow is created. Stilistically, the track sticks to minimal as well as clicks’n'cuts traditions, but Ndru manages to balance the genres’ artificiality by adding warm, low key harmonies. |

This split release is a shot in the dark from two unknowns that pay off handsome dividends. Ndru’s ‘Pony’ sounds like a combination of Boards Of Canada’s pastoral ambience and the more reflective end of minimal techno – until the hazy textures give way to an intense percussive finale. Meanwhile, Matthias Meyer’s contribution is on a par with the best releases on his namesake’s Speicher label, a steely drum-led, rave-sampling backs-to-the-wall stomper. 4 points of 5” DJ MAG: “Liebe Detail`s A&R department is earning its money.
