It´s time for another installment of the Moodmusic Nightstarter compilation series with the best selection from the current and forthcoming releases selected and mixed by labelowner and A&R Freestyle Man aka Sasse Lindblad. Starting things smooth with the recent Star You Star Me single in an unreleased Ian Pooley vocal mix, Sasse creates a magical mix crafted from the nu-disco sound of Spirit Catcher, Common Factor, Nick Chaocna and Dan Berkson going through a journey into the rocking minimal electronic side of the Moodmusic catalogue with Phonique (Tim Paris remix), Dave DK , Geddes vs. Audiofly (charted by Ewan Pearson allready) and Sasse himself. Ending the perfect mix is Greg Oreck´s future classic “Line” in it´s glorious 10 minutes original mix.

GROOVE (GER) 05/06.2006: “Moodmusic wurde 1996 in Turku in Finnland gegründet, nach einigen Jahren in Frankfurt am Main operiert das Label nun von Berlin aus. Zum dritten Mal mixt Labelmacher Freestyle Man alias Sasse die aktuellen Releases. Die zum Teil aus dem Backkatalog stammenden, zum Teil als zukünftige Releases geplanten Tracks und Mixe stammen von Common Factor, Greg Oreck, Dan Berkson oder Tim Paris. Wenn Moodmusic in der letzten Zeit ziemlich retro-orientiert und derb sein konnte, ist dieser Mix angenehm ruhig und sensibel. Man kann das Set als stilistisch offenere Variante von Sasses aktuellem Album hören. So durch und durch elektronisch fast alle Tracks sind und dabei auf den typischen, abgegriffenen, organischen Sound verzichten, geraten sie doch nie ins Tech-Housige. Dem Bedarf nach einem unerbittlichen, hochfunktionalen Druck für den Dancefloor geben sie ebenso wenig nach. Und wo man Romantik und Soul erwarten würde, sind sie spielerisch und humorvoll.
