DENIS KARIMANI - INCUBATIO Although Hamburg’s Denis Karimani has already released an EP for Dial under his real name, he might best be known under his alias “Remute” (Areal/Trapez/Weave). As a member of Error Error he also released a track on Liebe*Detail (liebe002), as well as three 12″es on Italic. With “Incubatio” Karimani delivers a dark, swinging track. Developing it from a rolling groove in a very intuitive and spontaneous way, it clearly shows the experience Denis gained from uncountable live sets. Without falling back on obvious hooks, he manages perfectly to keep up the tension all the way through. LEE JONES - WAX OFF Lee Jones might not exactly be a newcomer, but his debut for Liebe*Detail is a premiere anyway. Now living in Berlin, the British producer has been active in a completely different musical field so far. As Hefner he has released music for the Inertia label, catering for the Downbeat and NuJazz crowd. He remixed a lot of this genre’s pioneers, 4Hero amongst many others. After he arrived in Berlin in 2002, he soon met the Djs Nick Höppner and Carsten Klemann, started the project My My and became its driving creative force. They have already released two Eps on Playhouse. “Wax Off” is Jones’ first ever release under his real name. Compared to My My’s more playful approach, he focuses on a more electronic and cleaner aesthetic here. He creates a psychedelic and dubby flow without sacrificing his crystal clear sound design.

DE:BUG 05-2006: “Denis Karimani ist im Moment wirklich extrem viel und überall unterwegs und für Liebe*Detail hat er wohl einen seiner reduziertesten und bedächtigsten Tracks rausgeholt, denn hier dürfte er definitiv Leuten wie Troy Pierce zeigen, dass sie sich in Acht nehmen müssen, denn er ist schon einen Schritt weiter. Zerzauselt in den Hall-Effekten aber mit sehr überlegtem und vertracktem Funk im Nacken und nahezu unheimlicher Perfektion bis ins kleinste Sample. Die Lee Jones Rückseite kommt dagegen fast bedächtig und zunächst glaubt man die Dub Techno Renaissance hat wieder mal geschlagen, aber dann werden die Sounds so überraschend ausgefeilt und man befindet sich fast unmerklich mitten in einem dieser Tracks für die das Label so bekannt ist, weil sie einfach aus allem herausragen durch diese harmonische und unglaubliche Stimmung. Sowas kann kein Debut sein. Wer dieser Lee Jones ist? Hefner und ein Teil von My My. BLEED ***** ”

MyMy-Mitglied Lee Jones’ „Wax Off“ baut auf sphärisch verdichtende Dubs, die sich zusammen mit einer körperhaft rauschenden Fließfläche im zurückhaltenden Tech-House-Sektor wohlfühlen. What a beautiful track, useable for both warm-up and morning-hours. Cool stuff !! Denis Karimani: More moving and rhythmic than the other side. I would place this track in the peak-hour sessions, and pitch it up a bit. This track can really move the floor. Have already tested it heavily and it works for sure! Track is on the minimal side of things, but with good effects coming in all the time, and small bleeps and blobs here and there. And that vocal snippet in the break, pheeeeew. More of that please! Total: Both tracks are really great, and I’m playing this record a lot and will chart in May. 4/5”

RAVELINE / 05-2006: “Wahre Liebe im Detail als Maestro über die Arpeggiatoren spielt Lee Jones mit zauberhaft sanften, niedlichen und gefühlvoll verträumten Melodien, wirft mal lässig ein kleines Sample in den Track oder schiebt den Popo-Wackel-Groove beiseite und lässt Gefühlen Platz, während Denis Karimani hier die Finger von seinen Synthiziser-Orgien lässt und einen drastisch minimaleren Stil als bisher verfolgt. Er verzichtet zwar weiterhin nicht auf seine unkonventionellen Clicks und den wunderbar durchgeknallten Frickelz, doch statt dem remute'oiden Beinahe-Overkill propagiert er hier die Reinform des mikroskopischen Minimalismus. Eine unbewusst frisch filligrande Hommage an die Oldschool-Chicago-Orgelei, aufbereitet als Purismus-Slammer für kleine Kellerclubs und damit Frischfleisch für Ricardo-Groupies. 6 von 6 Punkten (Chris)”

STEVE BUG / 05-2006: “Mir gefallen beide Seiten sehr gut: Die Lee Jones - Seite ist sehr verspielt und leicht trancig, aber funktioniert trotzdem super. Die Denis Karimani - Flip ist etwas minimaler, aber trotzdem durch geschickte Breaks auch um einiges funktionaler und wird im Falle des Einsatzes sicherlich mit Schreien belohnt.”
