Since several years Andre Crom is known as resident dj of Düsseldorf’s harpune club and the monthly clubnight “Heimatmelodie” at Essen’s Hotel Shanghai. Since some time he’s also active as producer, on his own as well as with partners. The first result of his cooperation with Alex Krüger (aka Tigerskin, aka Dub Taylor aka producer of Phonique) is an instant peaktime slammer. That the guys know very exactly what drives a dancefloor is obvious after just a few seconds: the beats and bleeps are crisp and clear. And when the mad flange-sounds set in, dancefloor madness is guaranteed. That’s also the opionion of djs like Magda, Troy Pierce, Jay Haze, Kiki or Jesse Rose, which have been playing the promo-cdr since months already.The journey is the reward - That’s something Munich based producer Jichael Mackson seems to have had in mind while producing “Fluff in my bellybutton". The man who will always be fondly remembered for delivering a a formidable “Blow Job” on Pasta Musik, does not go straight from A to B. He rather lurches, wavers and bounces around many corners. This is like an extensive ride on a pogo stick in slowmotion. Additionally, “Fluff…” is the musical equivalent to a branchless patchwork vita, comprising anything between Minnimal, Deephouse, Breakbeats or Acid. But make no mistake: This is not a mash-up of all sorts of stuff stiched together quickly. It is music of a piece, still flexible enough to melt into the chinks separating genres.

Aber man kann ja seinen Popo auch mal sechs Minuten still halten. (ms)”

Ein Track der fast zu klar klingt um real zu sein. Die Rückseite ist das genau Gegenteil, nämlich einer dieser Mackson Tracks die sich in eine einmal gefressene Sequenz so tief eingraben, dass man kaum glaubt daraus könnte wirklich noch ein Track entstehen. Völlig verjammt und gegen Ende auf überragende Weise auch noch aus der ganz weiten Tiefe gefischt.”

DJ MAG (UK): “This label’s split releases always yield interesting results. Although less varied than previous outings, both sides focus on creating unusual techno-house hybrids. Jichael Mackson’s contribution is an offbeat, wiry groove, its metallic rhythms slipping and sliding in and out of tfiltered textures. Tigerskin’s ‘Notaufnahme’ is more conventional, the lineage of its hissing percussion and claps traceable back to Chicago, but the beats and bleeps are 100% futuristic, like the sound of playing ping pong against the side of a robot’s head.”

Perkussive Minimalismus-Kleinteiligkeit wird durch die zwei komplett übergeschnappten Breaks von der Rücken- in die Bauchlage und zurück gewälzt. So, als müsse man zwischendurch auf dem Kopf tanzen. Auch Macksons Track ist eine psychoaktive Vision, aber noch krasser drauf! Ein regelrechtes Dickicht miteinander verschmolzener Elemente pulsiert da vor sich hin. Das Zusammenspiel von bedämpfenden Filtern und Echos mit variierenden ultrakurzen Delaytimes zermantschen den Sound zusätzlich. Dramaturgie durch Haltlosigkeit – fertig, aber super!”

This double release sees Crom and Tigerskin pumping out a straight-ahead, Chicago-baiting club track, while Jichael Mackson submerges a skippy break in interminable swathes of reverb and delay. Both are ace. 4/5”
