Review

LB stands for Lars Behrenroth, a house producer, who relocated from Hamburg to Los Angeles a few years ago. While still in Germany, Behrenroth was busy producing mainly Deephouse for labels such as Trax of Interest or Foreplay. But he might have been even morre known for his radio activism in order to spread the House gospel on many different platforms and stations. At the moment he is taking care of www.deepershades.net. “Organism", his debut for Liebe*Detail, can definitely be classified as House, but not in that jazzy, musical kind of way. It rather lingers at the crossroads of recent Ibadan releases, Âme and Carl Craig. The track grandly and slowly glides towards a synth heavy climax, which will leave many dancefloors breathless. Most of you will know Ripperton from his releases on Num, Border Community and Connaisseur, as well as from being a member of Lazy Fat People. With its precisely programmed beats generally inclined to melancholy and huge, emotional moments on the floor, “10A” continues to coin a sound which journalists recently tried to grasp as “Minimal Trance". Ripperton remains true master of this genre. Considering the feastful atmosphere of the track, this will open many hearts on a dancefloor near you.

LIEBE015 in the media

Anja Schneider (Mobilee rec): “ Playlist - Saturday, 27.01.2007 Dance Under The Blue Moon ”

5 of 5 points. (m.path.iq)”

**** BLEED”

Dixon: “der ripperton track ist dope.”

DJ MAG / 03-2007: “You've got to admire Liebe*Detail's approach: instead of tacking a samey, big-name remix on to the B-side, they showcase original materiaL from two separate producers. This time Lars Behrenroth impresses with the shuffLing drums, arcing acid and dream like chords of '0rganism', a track in the CarL Craig technosoul vein but boasting the benefit of modern European production vatues. 0n the flip, melody, aLbeit in a more tranced out, fragile style fuels Ripperton's subLime '10a' ”

DJ T (Get Physical): “Liebe & Detail is getting stronger, developing his own fingerprint. Another good one from Lars Berenroth, "organism" is in my case.”

Geoffroy Mugwump (Suicide/Hi-P: “Got this from Tailored, would have loved a vinyl as well. Lars track is off the hook. Big damage.”

GROOVE 05/2007: “GROOVE-Charts 05/2007: #39”

Rar ”

Karotte: “beide seiten wieder klasse. sehr deep, sehr schön. zur richtigen uhrzeit kommt vor allem der ripperton track richtig gut. i like it.”

RESIDENT ADVISOR / 03-2007: “Without a stable of big names to draw the attention of loyalists or much in the way of press, burgeoning Hamburg imprint Liebe*Detail has instead built a solid reputation over the last few years with consistently high-quality output. Its split singles sometimes feature producers as eminent as Gabriel Ananda and Lawrence, but more often raise the status of erstwhile unknowns such as Move D, Lee Jones and Nick Höppner from My My, Ndru, Efdemin, Jichael Mackson and a host of others. Their fifteenth and latest release finds deep house producer and prolific radio DJ Lars Behrenroth sharing wax real estate with Ripperton, whose micro-textured minimal house and techno tunes have garnered the Swiss producer a positively swelling reputation. Here Behrenroth sheds his signature soulful sound for more minimal arrangements, while Ripperton fleshes out the aesthetic he's used so effectively in previous works. Behrenroth's 'Organism' is more exacting and restrained than many of his previous productions for labels Foreplay or Trax of Interest, retaining a human touch without the full-throated divas. The tune's patient growth, built around a two beat, one note melody palpitating throughout the track, scores the gestation of its eponymous entity. Gentle, drawn out tones stacked on top of one another and resonating lazily are eventually pushed to the background by agile syncopations, swirling counter melodies and stinging pad progressions, which make for a crushingly sweet climax. On the flipside, '10a' manages to sound lushly detailed with only a handful of elements, thanks to Ripperton's masterful construction and keen ear for choice timbres. Setting the tone with soft sixteenth notes trickling through hushed, wind-like howls, '10a' gets folks on the floor with its off-beat broken chords bounding through the tune and keeps them dancing with a wide angle, stuttering melody emerging halfway through. Ripperton's drum programming is just as compelling, constantly rearranging itself in subtle ways or dissipating almost entirely at strategic points to spotlight the blushing melodies. While '10a' gets my nod for the superior track, I wouldn’t be surprised if I hear both of these fine tunes pouring from the speakers on the same night.”

Shinedoe (Intacto): “Full support! love Ripperton”

STEVE BUG CHARTS FEBRUARY 2007: “#1 Lars Behrenroth - Organism (Liebe*Detail/liebe015)”

THE WIRE / 03-2007: “With eerie precision, Hamburg's Liebe*Detail continues to make the most out of the split single format. While its signings are often unknowns even within underground dance music circles, L*D sides sound more like instant classics by veteran producers (Perhaps, as much as anything, this is an argument for bringing back 'faceless Techno bollox'.). Hamburg's (via Los Angeles) Lars Behrenroth hews to the label's melancholic side with an eight minute build-up of layered synthesizers, all stately fourths and fifths, recalling Carl Craig's singular sense of focus. Ripperton one of Liebe*Detail's better known artists, with records on Connaisseur, Num, Border Community, WagonRepair (as Lazy Fat People),etc also goes long, using nine minutes to lay out a long, meandering arpeggio in the style of Ame's "Rej"that seems perpetually to be spilling over into run-off channels; the second half of the song is a wash massive pads playing uneasy, discordant counterpoints. The beat is blunt and a little stumbling, qualities Ripperton plays up by relying on breathers like pit falls, little pockets of bewilderment. (Philip Sherburne)”

Trevor Jackson: “95% of this so called minimal stuff i get sent now days it utter shit, boring unimaginative formula stuff. virtually every release on liebe detail shines out from the rest, always interesting and filled with real feeling and creativity, i love it!”
