Review

After How to Play Phantomly (GLK002), the fireproof Iñaqui Marín reappears in Galaktika to sign his ninth reference. About to reach its tenth vinyl launch, Galaktika has decided to put forward the most aggressive and blunt facet of Iñaqui Marin. Be it with delicate minimal or crushing techno, the versatility and talent of this Catalan have allowed him to register real blasts in each of the poles he has played. Frank Fontaine’s Diary, except of the most frenetic and hedonist electronica, is a good example of this. Sharp and corrosive, this track enthusiastically follows the most convulsive and lysergic school of Chicago: hypnotic melodies, twisted bass and caustic bass lines. Maurice Aymard has found it easy to jump from behind the scenes straight to the arena. For the second time, although this time on his own, he appears in his own label not as a producer but as an artist. Moe brings up to date the acidic twist of Frank Fontaine’s Diary, using lower-pitched and smoother sounds, but without neglecting the danceable essence of the original track. Galaktika, the shop, record label and techno-logic centre of the Gracia neighbourhood of Barcelona, follows its incorruptible trail of continually offering authentic electronica craftsmanship, in a speculative and vain world. In no time Galaktika will reach its tenth reference. A remarkable coming of age.

GLK009 in the media

Dj Each ( Bay Street records: “A Well Fucked up starts with a wicked dirty bass..quirky..a mega-monster!! and takes a completely..the track into a completely different direction.. Acid..Melody....so funky , dark, trancey minimal.... inaqui hasn't got much else to prove this days apart from the fact he's the best !!! . And as if this wasnt just enough to kill our thirst... the Remix by Maurice keeps the hypnotic acid melody and takes this groovy killer into a techy kick ass remix!!Holy sh***t!!!!!f*****Rocksss!! ”

ANDERSON NOISE (BRAZIL): “ Thanks for this Great EP , Quality stuff.”

ANDRE DALCAN (BOXER SPORT): “Your release sound good.My best side is the original mix. ”

ANGEL MOLINA (Minifunk): “ El tema original es mi favorito, es oscuro y muy retorcido. Full Support . ”

ARA aka AGENT ORANGE (GOTHAM G: “Original mix - Fun track with lots of really cool edits. Big full bassline and sneaky synth melody in the middle. Keeps your intrest throughout the whole mix. Maurice's remix takes the original synth line in a more acidy direction. The groove is addictive and the break unwinds it cleverly and brings the groove back nicely. ”

BRIAN FAIR ( TIC TAC TOE): “ B1 does it for me. A nice dark track with a really nice groove. I will definitely be playing this one. ”

Chloe: “I like the A side, very good.”

DE:BUG (GER): “Ein ziemlich überzeugender Acidfunktrack von Regular Regular Marin, der nebenher noch eine ganze Menge an Oldschooltechnoreferenzen auspackt(..)”

Jennifer Cardini: “love the B side spanish people rock ! ”

MOLDER (Audiomatique): “I like the original, groovy bassline and really interesting breaks. Sick! The remix will rock the floor. ”

Patrick Bateman (Tic Tac Toe R: “Really solid release! I like the remix from Maurice the best. Will play for sure! ”

Residential Advisor (ACT): “ If this is the evidence, the Spanish techno scene isn’t just about overpriced debauchery in Ibiza anymore. Barcelona’s Inaqui Marin returns to Galaktika Records after his impressive ‘How to Play Phantomly’ 12” on the label last year, this time delivering on the A-side an unusual blend of Atari-generated synth pop and EBM minimal, if you will. There are looped, corrosive snares, an aggressive bassline and distorted Nintendo sounds, as well as lysergic stabs that hint at old-school Chicago. It’s far from subtle stuff, but there’s a hedonistic groove to this that would go down very well at your average underground warehouse party. On the B-side, Galaktica boss Maurice Aymard pitches the track down to more minimal levels, anaesthetizing the original’s blaring synths and melodic frills in favour of smoother tech house. It’s softer and deeper, but it’s less bold: The blunt fervour of the original feels like a raver’s night out under the influence, while Aymad’s re-take would rather fit a steady walk along Las Ramblas. Almost ten releases old now, Galaktika are steadily making a name for themselves as a new European label to watch.”
