Talented Australian newcomer Jamie Lloyd continues his upward trajectory with his debut album Trouble Within released internationally in September following two successful EPs in 2006. The album has been getting the remix treatment from some of our favourite producers ahead of it’s global release with the first 12″ to surface featuring remixes from Berlin duo Trickski [Sonar Kollektiv] and Zwicker [Compost Black Label]. Trickski fans won’t be disappointed as the duo step to the plate with a high-octane floor-rocking house rework of You and I that has already been setting floors alight for the few who’ve received advance copies - Damien Lazarus and DJ T immediately added it to their next Get Physical comp before we even had a mastered copy! The hats sizzle, the bass kicks and snarls, the snares crack… but what makes these guys stand out is their innovative arrangements and fearlessness of taking risks. The power in this track palpable as the vocals build and build, then plateau… before the track drops HEAVY and we are off again. Killer.On the flip Swiss producer Zwicker (the man behind Kumquat on Compost Black) gives What We Have an utterly tasteful rework, with an exquisite nudge here and there to bring it into “last track of the night” territory. Jamie’s soaring butter smooth vocals sit atop tasteful live hats and a solid bassline in what is a very musical and soulful dancefloor compatible interpretation of the original.
