In October 2007 the first artist album on mobilee will be released. Naturally, who better to represent the milestone than Pan-Pot, who so far have delivered five essential singles to mobilee, helping to anchor the ever-shifting sound of the label. „Charly“ is the teaser release for the upcoming album „PAN-O-RAMA“ on mobilee. It´s just a taste of what you can expect later this year.Anja Schneider did another pumping remix on the B-Side. Her last release on mobilee is still played in clubs all over the world. She seems to be in a good groove right now, especially since she started her production partnership with Paul Brtschitsch. |

(mdma = good!)] review and radio support.” Brendon Möller (3rd ear): “wikkid stuff man! pan-pot are definitely my favourite mobilee artists. will play both these mixes. deep, funky, playful... in the crowded sea of minimal techno, these two tracks stand out nicely. ” Giosuè Impellizzeri: “I like the sound of Pan Pot, groovin' and rollin'. This track is one of the best of forthcoming album. Check out for the Anja Schneider remix. ” Groove Mag Poll 2007(GER): “Best Remix 2007: #12. It pummels the dancefloor into submission (in a good way)” Mike Shannon (Cynosure): “the orginal mix is cool except for those wack vocals... and Anja's mix gives me flash backs of flavored Mexican nights. Ace” Monika Kruse: “love it! play it!” Prefix MAG (USA): “Panorama, the debut from Berlin up-and-comers Pan-Pot, the production/deejay duo of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix, is a churning, deep exploration into darker corners of contemporary minimal techno. Pan-Pot favors an incessant ominous kick drum as the backbone of every track, sprinkling sparse melodies of synth, chattering cymbals, and eerie electronic effects into the mix. Existing on the opposite side of the spectrum from fellow Berlin-based peers BPitch, Ippenberger and Benedix are content to probe a much less active listening experience, which allows the musical adventure to shift entirely to listeners. Techno's popularity has grown in the last few years due to an embrace of pop melodies. But Pan-Pot does not exist to provide complex rhythmic and melodic patterns. Instead, "Black Fusion" and "Crank" attach a sinister tone to the minimal melodies and pounding drums, resulting in an unsettling listening experience. Without the head-spinning melody overload, we have no chance but to allow ourselves to be lost in this dark, lonely world. By shaping our experience of Panorama, Pan-Pot's spare melodies serve as a rescue line, making the pervasive disconcerting feeling subside. "Charly" may be the eeriest of all, with the foggy, mechanical vocals of a mysterious guest named Hugh Betcha deadpanning line after line about cocaine. Musically, "Charly" chugs along at a brisk pace compared with much of the rest of the material. A percussive synth motors at double the speed of the 4/4 kick, snare, and high-hat, resulting in both a highly danceable beat and a sensory overload for headphone listening. Panorama challenges the minimal techno by forcing us to see what exists behind the bright melody. Pan-Pot's techno is a lonely, dark, and depraved world, and it certainly makes the experience of techno and all of its subgenres much more complete. Panorama at times thrills, terrifies, and forsakes, but it always engages and rewards, the hallmarks of any successful record.” Raresh (Arpiar): “like it .. cool vocals on it and nice groovy line ” Resident Advisor Net: “The mysterious Hugh Betcha on Pan-Pot's newest single most likely takes his name from Canada's sketch comedy masterpiece 'SCTV.' Betcha hosts 'Night Gallery,' an apt name for the type of atmosphere that 'Charly' creates over its nine minutes. The track is a cocaine narrative that hits its first climax as Betcha's partially obscured pitched-down vocal clearly intones "Hits your brain like some kinda ego-driven train." The train in question is undoubtedly the chugging melody, rising ever upward in its inexorable, entrancing loop. That ego? The steady hi-hat laden beat. Your brain? Your brain. Label head Anja Schneider pops up on the B-side with her 'Tex Mex Mix,' which along with Kiki's recent 'Cowboy Mix' of 'Trust Me' should allow DJs to make a nice quick excursion to the Old West. It's a solid rework, but it doesn't touch the original's sense of foreboding atmosphere, offering little aside from more prominent hand drums. (As my old friend Hugh Betcha might say, "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.") Pan-Pot, aka Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix, have been steadily building their reputation on the Mobilee and Einmaleins Musik labels with ten singles and a host of remixes. It's been a rather stunning work rate, but it's also created an equally stunning body of work. 'Charly' may just be their best yet. Words / Todd L. Burns” Residentadvisor Net: “Track 2007: #29. Pan-Pot “Charly” - mobilee” Ripperton / Lazy Fat People: “The Anja Remix is really Brilliant!” Robin Porter (Immigrant): “A1 - Awesome track I can see myself playing often. Love the vocal and the bring on the darkness! B1 - I'm going to be caning this remix, really hypnotic and tracky just the way I like it. Great stuff!” Shinedoe (100% Pure): “I love and play Charly (Original)!!” Stephan Bodzin: “LOVE the original!! Great tune! ” |
