Fabrice Lig, the prince of everything electronic, is back after his very acclaimed X-Slaves. He delivers the goods once again, starting off here with chapter one in a Purple Raw trilogy. First up is The Track, based around a jerky syncopated rhythm and a very dry kick, which remains light all the way. As usual, Lig’s arrangements evolve progressively before they wipe us away with their screeching pads and synthetic melodies. A great mixture of minimal techno and Detroit nostalgia. No doubt, the more efficient track produced by Fabrice Lig and hammered by Dixon, Ame, Alex Attias, Quarion… Much more aggressive, Bump Bump is built around fat analogue sounds, or acid noises if you prefer which seem to emulate screaming animals. One is easily carried away by an animalistic groove that keeps on building from the beginning till the end. It all ends with the very funky The Riff Pourpre, a perfect crossover between Metro Area and Parliament. The retro sounds sit nicely on a big fat beat, the kind which Lig excels in. |

Alex Fom Tokyo (Innervisions): “" There is nothing say! This EP is the muthafuckin' bomb. The 3 tracks are all different and excellent. I am really stunned! This is some damn funky electronic tracks for the dance floor. I love them! Knock Out on the first round."” Alex Attias (Planet E): “"Once again, Versatile deliver us a wonderful piece of electronic music and, with this ep, Fabrice Lig get in to the "crème de la crème" of dance music ! These sounds, these grooves, these ambiences and this funky univers remind me a kind of updated 70's sound. Full support !! I love the 3 tracks !!! ." ” âme (Innervisions): “"We love this monster from Fabrice!! Growing and growing and growing ... " ” Bushwacka (olmeto): “ am LOVIING this!!! Its massive. Good work mate ” Dixon(Innervisions) : “"I dont like this record. Everytime i play it (twice a week) it feels so great that i hate to have it not on innervisions!" ” Dj Hell (Gigolo): “Chart NO 1!” Gamall (Demon Days): “I will be playing "The Track" in Miami at Demon Days Party Will chart in April - would have charted right away but just did March chart" ” Gerd Janson (Running Back/RBMA: “"the Fabrice Lig record is unbelievable. Played it out last weekend and the walls came tumbling down, the roof was on fire and the floor was flooded." ” Gerd Janson (Running Back/RBMA: “"the Fabrice Lig record is unbelievable. Played it out last weekend and the walls came tumbling down, the roof was on fire and the floor was flooded." ” HARDROCK STRIKER (SKYLAX / COS: “"THE TRACK IS REALLY ... THE TRACK !!!" ” Marcus Worgull (Innervisions): “"it will be one of the biggest tunes this year !!!!! it somehow sums up all carl craig, âme and similar stuff of the last 3 years and gives it an asskick !" ” Peter Kruder (Kruder & Dorfmei: “" Love that killa wired synth freakout on Bump Bump. You guys are some crazy mothers and i love you..." ” PITCHFORK: “ I must be in an uncharacteristically Detroit-oriented mood, because this is another exercise in lush chords carefully doled-out tension that brings me up like a high-speed elevator. Lig balances a nicely rounded low end, wide as an alpine valley, with treble detailing that raises the hairs on your neck. Hissing hi-hats, "wild pitch" styled string ostinatos and the ragged filtering of the midrange whip up such a storm it's like watching sunlit snow cascade off a cliff's face. Midway through the track's 12 minutes, fourths and fifths lock together like a climber's grip to assist the ascension of a glory-bound melody line. Like a house on fire with the phone lines down, there's only one way this can end. ” Quarion/Yanneck (Drum Poets Co: “"An outstanding track from Fabrice Lig...One of the tunes of 2008! ” Roberto Rodrigez (Future Beat: “« The track » is definitively the track of the year so far for me ! ” Roland Appel (Compost, Jazzano: “"I played at fabric/london last saturday and your "The Track" was the killer. I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!!!!"” Ron (Soultourist/Drumpoet): “"the track" is massive. big support from drumpoet." ” Simon Harrison (Basic Soul Rad: “ another Versatile classic in the making. When I played it out it sounded fantastic. House tunes don’t get much bigger than this!" ” Tony Lionni (Versatile/Mule/Wa: “"Purple raw master The track gets my biggest vote, real strong track, will definatley play it in the club... Thanks Versatile.." ” tsugi mag (F): “Face A: débutant dans un style minimaliste, “The Track” se laisse porter par des nappes typiques de Detroit, pour 12 minutes de bonne deep techno. Face B: l’acid mais deep “Bump Bump”, la house façon P-funk de “The Riff Pourpre”.” Yannick (Needs): “"The Fabrice Lig EP rocks.. really love "The Track", one of the best tunes he did in a long time!" ” |
