Review

This ninth release proves how wide the range of Techno is on Be As One, with different moods but always with the same high quality standard. With Black Gold and its remixes, BAO is indeed back to a more classic techno sound. Already featured by Funk D Void in his latest Soma compilation, the original Black Gold is a true musical treat. Built around a fat beat and an uplifting stab, this summery slice of Techno is perfect for the warmer months ahead and will be played by the most various djs around. Samuel L Session, is a producer that need no introduction to Techno fans around the world. Known for his loopy and classic sounding Techno, Samuel has been recently busy remixing for some of the best labels and artists, the latest one being Kevin “The Elevator” Saunderson. With his rework of Black Gold he proved once again to be one of the best remixers around, bringing us a driving and obscure reinterpretation that’s as much uplifiting as the original. This is is just the first of a series of works SLS will be busy with for Be As One. Chymera is another of those “men of the moment” of the Techno scene. Known for the melodies that are already known as his trademark sound, here Brendan brings us something really different from what he used us to. A fat kick and a solid, driving, pumping groove, all mixed up with a wise usage of the original stabs, makes this monster something really special for all the Techno djs looking for something that has a “classic” feel.

BAO009 in the media

Anja Schneider Mobilee Records: “The original is cool for me ..samuel l session mix works also very well!! Cool”

Dan Foat IDJ Magazine (UK): “Digging both of the remixes. Solid stuff.”

Dj Mag (UK): “ Not normally a fan of Be As One but love this release. "Black Gold" is a glorious, dramatic and driving Detroit inspired track. Warm, breezy yet powerful beats push the track along with a strong chiming riff that is played with throughout the track. Can really see this taking the roof of many clubs. On the flip Samuel L Sessions does what he does best, pumping relentless Detroit grooves yet still keeping a bit of swing and shuffle in the groove. Last up there is a more experimental track "Chymera".”

Dj Misk (AltroVerso / Italy): “the a side is cool and the b1 even better. really enthralling techno dyed of synth-electro.”

Giles Smith DJ MAG (UK): “This is a huge release which as the release says should work wonders in the summer. The original is warm, powerful, flowing, detroitey and so beautiful. SLS's remix is typically solid and banging. In the box.”

James Priestley (secretsundaze: “a really solid ep - all 3 mixes are great in their own different ways. love the brokenness of chymera's drums, the roll of samuel's mix and the meandering of the original. thanks - will suppport. james”

Karotte (CocoonGreat Stuff): “der samuel l. session rmx rotiert bei mir seit wochen. platz 5 in meinen april charts.”

Gros maxi ! (LU)”

Shinedoe (Intacto): “A1 original.. oldskool sound.. but this will do well on the dancefloor.”
