After what could be described as Stil vor Talent’s hit single “3 Tage Wach", the latest addition to Oliver Koletzkis versatile label, Juli Holz, shows just how diverse Stil vor Talent really is. Its all about good music - without any genre or style boundaries! Juli Holz is a singer with a great uncompromising voice and a superb feel for the dancefloor. As Zweiekkenkreis she already had a succesful project in 2005 getting great reviews in De:Bug and Raveline as well as playing many gigs around Germany. Now she’s back with her first solo single: “Tränen auf dem Dancefloor” (Tears on the dancefloor). The EP starts of with the title track, a wonderful electro pop anthem with an analogue bassline and some subtle synthies. However, her clear voice is the main object of desire here describing the beautiful chaos that is clubbing. Sweet and pumping! Then there’s “Angst” (Fear), a darker play on the poppy melodies that keeps grooving on a more electro-clashy bass and a grooving loop. “Wo bist du?” (Where are you?) finishes off the EP - an introvert piece that is both disturbing in its arrangement and beautifully rocking with a 2-step-style snare-laden beat. Deep and moving! These three tracks are Electroclash 2.0, sounding how electro pop should sound in 2008. But that’s not all: the vinyl version comes with two remixes. First up is Berlin-based producer Johnjon with his version of “Angst", where he stays true to some main elements of the original as well as Juli’s vocal and builds a subtle minimal loop below it. Some nicely arranged effects mark the breakdown that perfectly anticipates the simple, yet grooving beats. After that well-known producer Daso is up, who turns “Wo bist du?” into a minimal house monster. Delaying Juli’s voice and re-arranging her lyrics, the track also takes in the Detroity elements of Juli’s originals and highlights them even more. Very oldskool! Also, there are two exclusive digital releases, an instrumental dub of Johnjon’s remix and a remix of |

My tune is absolutely the title-track, "Tränen Auf Dem Dancefloor": it remind me Nena and Fengari. B-side is dedicated to tech-house dj's with more groove than melody and voices.” Dj Misk (AltroVerso / Italy): “considering that, for me, there are some 'obstacles' regarding the language... my favourite track here is the daso remix. playlist in altroverso.” Italoboyz (Get Physical - Moth: “i really like the daso remix - wo bist du? supacool!!! thanx” Karotte (CocoonGreat Stuff): “irgendwie mag ich den johnjon rmx ganz gern. sogar die vocals stören mich da nicht. schöne platte.” |
