Review

The follow-up to last year’s “Deep in Need", the Haunting Me EP brings three new soulful and sleazy tracks from Dirty Bee. Since “house” has been a buzzword for the last year or two, old-timer Dirty Bee shows the kids that it’s possible to give a shout-out to the old school, while still finding plenty of room for innovation. The title track, featuring Bee’s friend Luther on vocal duties, brings a paranoid vibe that crescendos with fluttering chimes and a Baltimore breakdown. On the flipside, things get a bit filthy with “Out of Body": pounding bass with conga accents keep the tempo, while a drunken, off-kilter saxophone solo tries to find its way home. Finally, the snarling, electrified bounce of “Work for Me” closes out the EP. Spread the house gospel!
