Having been a DJ in his native Malaysia from 1984, Flowerz (aka Mohan Das) relocated to Europe in 1990 where he remains to this day, creating house music infused with influences ranging from Quincy Jones to Steve Bug. The lead cut of this EP, “It’s Funk, It’s House” sees the wonderfully eccentric beatsmith deliver a piece of classic deep house. Originally recorded 7 years ago to be included on his album as Audio Royal on Funkhaus, Mohan held on to the track until the Hypercolour guys insisted on releasing it. Its spoken vocal was unrehearsed and recorded in one take, mirroring the straight from the heart musicality of the track overall and knocking cheap imitations out of the park
