After recent successes on his “other label", Donnacha Costello returns to his Look Long imprint with the storming one sided monster that is “Ten Thousand Hours". To begin, an ominous, growling, analog siren calls out from Costello’s Roland SH-101, alerting us that our presence is required on the dancefloor before rattling, shuffling hi-hats mark out the groove and we head out on an ecstatic 7 minute analogue journey through a universe inhabited by wispy shadows of S-Express, 808 State, Mathew Jonson and Costello’s own classic Colorseries sound. Words don’t do justice to this one. Simply drop the needle on the record and escape to an alternate universe on a magic carpet of analog synths and drum machines. “Ten Thousand Hours” appears as a very limited one sided vinyl edition and won’t be re-pressed. Don’t sleep. |
