Listen to one of the Worlds best Clubs: Watergate, Berlin

watergateCD001

"Watergate" have just been awarded #3 Club of  Planet Earth by UK Resident Advisor (plus #2 for Clubdesign and # 3 for Booking) just behind Berghain and Londons Fabric.

Folks,  we´re more than proud to announce their first CD Compilation world exclusive through Wordandsound.

Here´s a review from Weeklydig´s David Day that reached us today and that says way more about the Club and the Cd´s music than we ever could. So, lets hear it for David Day and offcourse: Watergate!

Used to be, you could hate on Berlin for being too elite, too chic, too much. The dance music is minimal, too cold and too, well, German. These days, everyone has given up and given in—Berlin is the most creative music metropolis of the haughty naughties. Enter Onur Özer, who immigrated to the capital city after dominating Istanbul's developing dance scene. He lands at Berlin's most famous club, Watergate (known for its entire wall of LED lights), and proceeds to release his debut mix on their new label. From the breathy seduction of Cassy's "April" to his own "Terpsichorean Echoes," the mix is so deadly it could be bottled as insect spray. And when he loosens Patrice Bäumel's "The Roar," it sounds like someone has snapped an operating weed-whacker in half and thrown it onto the dancefloor. Someone help, Berlinism is turning into a debilitative addiction.

This is not normal: The MB Factor and their outstanding new, limited CD

pfrcdltd001

Clé and Mike Vamp better known as Märtini Brös.give us 19 tracks of unreleased, restored, remixed, exclusive mad material, called The MB Factor. Following to their massive recent Love Parade/MTV gig , this exclusive piece hits the stores and it turns out to be a really outstanding one to have.
As two of the illest producers and longtime Poker Flat family members, they set a new standard of so called “Best Of”-outputs, making the big resell-concepts look oh so lame. Looking at the tracklisting you will notice that this isn’t just a regular “Best Of” collection you would see right before Christmas of some big names, it is more a selection of exclusive new stuff, you couldn’t get an ear or hand on so far. Just add the MB Factor and you get what you want: outstanding new exclusive releases (e.g. ‘Chasing Ghosts feat Tigerlilly) mixed with remixes you shouldn’t forget (like Dance Like It’s ok (DJ Koze & The Tease Rmx)) and exclusive versions (‘Tanzen 23008’), representing 10 years of hard work paired with a whole lotta fun, being a reminescence to the tracks to which so many of us have already been freaking out between 1998 and nowadays.

Thanks Brös. and thanks to Poker Flat for the MB-Factor making Life so Märtini!

Wordandsound welcomes Quintessentials

quintessential

We are very happy to have this new label on board, because since we received the first demo, the whole office is groovin. So now it’s time for some essential deep and raw house music! Quintessentials tracks are raw, but they have soul. It’s what we all loved about those old house records: a raw yet soulful music! With artists like Anton Zap (Underground Quality), Jagged (a few among others), Vakula (Uzuri) and Lerosa (Real Soon) to start with, Quintessentials will help to keep underground house music on the map.

In 1994, from the 7th of April until the mid of July between 500,000 and one million people in Rwanda were slaughtered in a genocide that took place against the background of a civil war.  The Red Cross works to trace and reunite families thrust apart by the tragic events that shaped  Rwanda and the region since 1994.
