February And Mars - February And Mars
- co-produced by John Daly - - Debut Album by February & Mars Short info: Mojuba is celebrating its 10th birthday in a very special way by releasing the magnificent selftitled debut album by analouge rockers February & Mars. Hailing from the stunningly beautiful west of Ireland, the Galway group’s sound is awash with its environment, ranging from the rolling limestone mountains to the wild Atlantic sea. Core members Carl Ramberg and Jack Considine use classic drum machines and vintage synthesisers to carve their music, which is inspired by Detroit, Eno, Guns ‘n’ Roses and interplanetary love! However, it’s their use of more conventional techniques, vocal, guitars, piano etc that give February & Mars their dreamy signature sound, which is forming a hybrid of electronic music, psychedelic rock, indie pop and cosmic disco with an upbringing fostered by house and techno club nights! This unique studio debut album involves no other than John Daly in the co-production role, who also released the group’s 3-song debut EP on his own imprint Feel Music. As with every other release on Mojuba, we are confident that great quality music will always find a place in the heart of the open-minded listener & dancer!

Barotti - Rising
Barotti is a musician and contemporary multimedia artist based in Berlin. After years of working on urban sound installations, performing arts and experimental music, he is now releasing his debut album. A soundtrack for fantastic futuristic fairytales. Epic and symphonic - with a deep electronic base. Armed with iconic analog gear of the 1970s and 1980s, a hand-picked group of high level classical string and horn players and the whole imaginary world of his absurd fantasies, Barotti is opening up a new dimension in the vast field between contemporary classical and electronic music. Rising stands firmly with one foot in the same mud as Woodkid and Sohn, and the other foot dipping into the past 200 years of classical music, resting in a lukewarm cocktail of Funkstörung and James Blake. The album was recorded in Casablanca and Berlin. Co-written and co-produced with Swedish composer Anders Ehlin and German producer Valentin Sommer. Biographical details: Arriving in Berlin in 2007 after completing his music studies in drums at the Siena Jazz Academy, Barotti has pursued a wide variety of activities in the art world. He quickly joined forces with Plastique-Fantastique, producers of inflatable urban architecture. Together they started creating interactive sound sculptures. Their installations have been exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, Clerkenwell Design Week London and Design Week Milan. Their latest work Sound of Light (made for Urbane Künste Ruhr) won the Let’s Colour Award. Their work also extends into pop: they have designed a stage machine for Peaches, now touring around the world. Barotti has also worked with Asphalt Piloten, an interdisciplinary group of artists transforming public spaces. Together, they have traveled all over Europe and Russia with various proje

Alexandre Francisco Diaphra - Diaphra's Blackbook Of The Beats
“I may have no possessions, but here lies everything one needs” This is Alexandre Francisco Diaphra’s motto as governor of his own life. A multifaceted artist from Guinea-Bissau, based in Lisbon: rapper, poet, edutainer & beatmaker, creating music based on improvisation in which he blends his psychedelic, black music, afro ancestral influences and love for the non-quantized beats in the same way as with experimental jazz, mixed contemporary and urban styles. Last year Diaphra wons the 3rd place at the 1st International Poetry Slam in Rio de Janeiro (Flupp). In 2012 Diaphra featured & toured Europe as MC/performer for Angolan/Portuguese project Batida’s eponymous debut album (Soundway),“a record that could change the african electronic music on the 21st century” (Songlines) - their live show was also “one of the best 10 acts from Womex” (NPR Radio). Diaphra’s Blackbook Of The Beats is following the idea of building instrumental bases on the outside environment wherever Diaphra feels inspired. A backpack, some vinyl records, a portable turntable and a sampler for self deconstruction / recreation from which resulted this (mainly) instrumental album and which is documented in form of musical videos in the dvd. The particulary of this project resides in the non-quantized beats over which the enlightening poetry is spoken, rapped and chanted in portuguese, where trial and error take part of the compositions which are enhanced with the use of instruments played by invited musicians and sometimes by Diaphra himself. Add to this various carefully handcrafted editions – including a silkscreened reproduction of the real Diaphra’s Black Book Of The Beats – and you get the kind of artifact we love to bump into. Available as CD also.
