As dj, producer and label owner (Brouquade, Cave Recordings) and co-distribution owner (KMA60), Dana Ruh is one of the driving forces of the Berlin club music scene. Beyond her world-renown dj skills and running a Berlin-based record shop & event space, Dana Ruh has become a prolific producer, who spends every free minute on developing her unique take on electronic music. She releases, not only on her own labels Brouquade and Cave Recordings, but also other imprints like Underground Quality, Ostgut Ton (in collaboration with André Galuzzi) and RDV. Her club music productions are defined by a particular hazy and moody touch. The tracks are well arranged and always contain the right amount of roughness, which lets the music sound alive and organic. Only four releases into it’s blossoming back catalogue, and Molly’s RDV label continues to establish itself as an unmissable outlet for contemporary house and techno with an EP from long-established, always-vital German producer, Dana Ruh.
The twitchy, rhythmic ‘Natural High’ sets the rhythm, ideal for those easily seduced by Ruh’s indelibly tight drum work (or those about to be converted to it nonetheless). ‘Moonday’ then expands the sound with a deeply satisfying bassline that blossoms in myriad evocative directions, incorporating trippy acid fluctuations, haunting vocals and a general sense of strobe-lit urgency.On the flip, and ‘Vattenfall my A’ establishes the energy which which it shares its namesake, trading in a minimal but flexible bassline and eeking out each ounce of tension, in the confident, minimalist style Dana Ruh is beloved for. To close the EP, Molly herself takes ‘Vattenfall my A’ to task, tunneling deeper still with a remix that establishes several shades of fresh, sensual ambiguity, not to mention, an ominous bassline that flirts with the edge.

Parallel Berlin head Daniela La Luz returns to her home away from home, HOUSEWAX with a few friends to rework her modern classic, "Did You Ever". Originally released in 2014 "Did You Ever" was an instant classic amongst decerning house heads, but it was when Detroit legend, Moodymann dropped it as closing track on his DJ Kicks compilation the year later. The light well and truly spun onto La Luz and her sublime approach of house and techno. Now to kick off 2018 Housewax have invited Virgo 4, Dah Ruh and Cinthie to offer their spin on "Did You Ever". Together they each offer 3 unique takes from house to deep techno, yet managing to stay true to the soulful flavor of the original.

Analog warmth, polished acid lines, breathy pads and rolling drum sequences – Tel-Aviv via Berlin producers PRZ and Dasco (Gal Perez and Hadas Cohen) are slowly but surely marking themselves as the friendly newcomers that you should be keeping a firm eye on. With just a couple of releases under their belts plus a hefty amount of experience in the studio, their music is finally beginning to surface. The two producers, who originally met at a party in Tel-Aviv joined forces two years later for a four day studio session to bring this collaborative extended player to light (the title might be also imply the duo’s understanding of old school aesthetics). Our pick ‘Line Machine‘ features seven minutes of acid-drenched house; with buzzy analog chords and funky synth-work, gliding and switching positions over a driving, punchy drum section.
