MUSIC FOR A SUNDOWNER – Melodic AOR / Yacht Rock from GermanyTramp fans will already be familiar with the band "People", as they were featured on the latest edition of the "Praise Poems" series (Volume 9, TRLP/CD-9109). "Misty Mood" was not only the song we included on Praise Poems 9 but also the title of their debut album from 1981. However, it wasn't their first release on Vinyl.In 1969, two years after the group was founded, a 7-inch single EP with four folk songs was released, by then under the name "The People". With Woodstock and the changes in folk and rock music in the early 1970s, bandleader Bernd Heyder dissolved the band. A few years later he founded "People", whose sound was now based on artists such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Neil Young. After many frenetically celebrated live performances, the desire to record a full length album arose at the end of the 1970s. In 1981 the time had come and "Misty Mood" was released on a small, local label called "Ohrwurm Records". Just one year later the band released their second album titled "Easy Going". Their third and final album, which exclusively contains songs with German lyrics, was released on CBS Records in 1983. CBS wanted to sign Bernd Heyder as a solo artist, but he politely declined. When the hoped-for success failed to materialize, CBS prematurely terminated the band's contract. In 1984, "People" disbanded.With the stunning LP release "Natures Melody", Tramp Records honors Aschaffenburg's "People" after almost 45 years. The reason why no one has really taken an interest in them so far may be because the original Vinyl records are anything but rare. For the 'people' behind Tramp Records, this is absolutely insignificant, it's simply the music what counts. And the songs are so extraordinary that we are proud to set up a special monument to the band with this album. More

Superb funky-soul tune which was comped on the incredible "Natural Resources II" compilation album. The original 45 is tricky to find so most of the soul music aficionados out there should be pleased with this reissue. More

** German Disco - first time on 7" ** "Matter of Taste" released their debut album on the small german Flame label in 1979. "Step By Step" is a monstrous Disco track while the flip side ("Haselief") is completely different and certainly surprises the listener. More

** Re-issue of an ultra-rare modern soul 45 ** "Without Your Love" is a wonderful, uplifting modern soul tune which was recently comped on "Praise Poems Vol. 9". The original 45 RPM single is ultra-rare and extremely hard to find, so this reissue is here to please a lot of music lovers. More

The Peace Chant compilation series is a Temple, a reliquary of sacred harmonious statements made by enlightened artists throughout time. With Tramp Records' latest offerings, "Peace Chant, Raw Deep and Spiritual Jazz volumes 5 & 6, deeper, darker, and even more remote chambers of this already exalted temple are brought to light. The team at Tramp, with their torch of love and with reverence for those builders who came before, have returned from their quest with musical treasures unfathomable. Indeed, some of these tracks sound as if they may have literally been plucked from the ancient hands of some towering golden idol. But this quest was no looting effort, no. The Gods, as well as the artists and their families were fairly compensated through Tramp Records' rigorous and historically conscious licensing efforts. Alignment is back on Charlotte de Witte's KNTXT label for a fourth time with his Attack EP. It offers four more forward-thinking tracks of trance infused techno. Berlin-based, Italian-born artist Alignment, whose real name is Francesco Pierfelice, has emerged as a real force in the techno world in recent years. He has had an outstanding array of vital productions, and his sound helps carry forward the diversity and musical identity KNTXT stands for. His sound has smartly evolved since as he continues to pick up new influences. All that comes out on this superb new release. Attack opens up with hammering drums and turbo-charged synths. It is an all powerful track that drills deep and brings a real sense of rave to the club. There is an ever present sense of euphoria to Dream State as the trance synth loops bring real light and emotion to the flat footed and slamming drums. Some steamy vocals add that all important hook and ensure real dance floor destruction. Multiverse brings bouncing techno funk beneath edgy synth stabs and industrial percussion design for soot-black warehouse spaces. Last of all is The Way, another unstoppable and supersized techno offering with hands-in-the air synth designs and drums that just don't quit. This is another fiery offering of new school techno from Alignment. More

Lex makes a welcome return to Delusions Of Grandeur with a brilliant follow up to last years 7 Day Path EP. The Athenian producer, DJ and former record shop owner has been honing his unique sound for the last 7 or 8 years resulting in releases for labels such as Leng, Samosa, King Street, Black Riot and B2. His densely layered textures incorporating lots of live elements and expansive Ron Trent inspired arrangements bring a warm, musical flavour to his productions but without ever losing sight of the dance floor. Without You sets the tone with touches of acid melting into sun-drenched strings and Rhodes making for an atmospheric tune tailor-made for daytime beach sets and late night dancing under the stars. Both hypnotic and trippy in equal measures, this is the kind of versatile track that will make a big impression and put you under its summery spell. Next up we have Strip Town which features some brilliant live bass bringing a jazz-funk swagger whilst the tasty synth chords ensure maximum deepness. Flipping over we have a percussive roller going by the name Purity which features the spoken word of Guto Fernandez and sees Lex joining up with regular collaborator Locke. Francois Kevorkian is a name that should need no introduction. With over 40 years in the game FK has occupied numerous roles in his long and storied career - drummer, DJ, A&R man, remixer and producer - his skills know no boundaries. Having DJ-ed during the nascent days of club culture in NYC alongside Walter Gibbons, Larry Levan and more, Kevorkian has been there from day one. Years spent in the seminal clubs of the day sharpened his ears and his prowess behind the mixing desk saw him become the A&R man at the legendary Prelude records in the early 80's, this in turn led to him working with everyone from The Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Erasure, D-Train, Yazoo, The Smiths, Kraftwerk and many many more. A true NYC original and legend, Kevorkian is still active today and the respect he commands amongst his peers has never waned, his adventurous extended DJ sets, seminal mixes and remixes and his open ears and open mind have ensured that he will go down in history as a musical pioneer.

Rewind to 1995. Kevorkian's 'Wave Music' imprint has come into existence with a handful of releases. No-one could imagine that his self-produced 'FK EP' - the next release on the label - would be a stone cold classic. Easily one of the most consistent, exciting and solid EP's to come out of NYC during this golden era of dance music. Across 4 tracks we are taken on a sound journey through a world that is undoubtedly informed by FK's time as an engineer, DJ and most importantly, a music lover.

EP opener 'Hypnodelic' brings us into this world, a deep, driving cut that fuses the dubbed out vocals of Freddie Turner against FK's keyboards and immaculate drum programming, oozing cosmic electronic soul, this track was destined to be a future classic. 'Mindspeak' also boasts some tough drums and with a respectful nod to Chicago is an incredibly mixed and arranged peak-time cut that will drive your dancefloor into deep space again and again. 'Edge Of Time' welcomes us to the flipside of the EP, wild Latin percussions, tablas and old school horn stabs drive this monstrous cut, not to mention cavernous dub FX and that huge bassline that just doesn't let up. Essential. 'Moov' rounds things out on a more subdued, stripped back vibe. Reversed percussions and spaced-out synth chords lace this beautifully understated and warm track, one that builds into a crescendo of melodies and hypnotic rhythms and the perfect way to close what has been a truly special musical journey.

This essential reissue of the 'FK EP' has been fully licensed, sanctioned and remastered in conjunction with FK from the original master sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK, repressed onto high quality vinyl and packaged as the 1995 release was.
